Wanting to renovate or refresh your kitchen or bathroom space? Trying to decide whether to refinish your cabinets or totally replace them?
What’s the difference anyway?
Depending on your style and wants, price can vary depending on which option you choose! Replacing all your cabinets, boxes included, will be your most expensive option, however in some cases it is needed. For example, if your cabinets are old or have extensive damage, this might be the best route for you. Depending on your budget though, replacing just your doors and drawers can be a less expensive option, especially if you just want a different style. Refinishing your cabinets as they are, painting or staining what you currently have, is also comparable in price while giving you many options to choose from!
Certain choices can be comparable in price depending on the options, styles, or colors chosen, however time can play a big factor in differentiating them as well. By refinishing your cabinets instead of replacing them, you save time by not having to shop around for the perfect match, which may not always be available, and then waiting for your new cabinets to arrive (if they are not in stock). In addition to shopping and shipping times, time is also spent on tearing out your old cabinets and installing the new ones, which can be disruptive to your day-to-day routine and home environment. Overall, the total replacement process can take up to weeks to complete! In some cases, this is acceptable and preferrable however, again, if you are addressing age or damage of your cabinets. If time is of the essence for your cabinet project, the other two options are a bit speedier. Replacing only drawers or doors can still take a little time when it comes to shopping and ordering, but the installation process is much quicker and less disruptive, taking a few days or weeks off the project. If you are just wanting to refinish your cabinets with some paint or stain, your timeline is even shorter, typically taking five to seven days total.
No matter prices or timeline, all options offer you variety and quality. Completely replacing your cabinets starts your kitchen or bathroom off fresh! You can choose the style or color depending on the stock available and the look you are going for only limited by what suppliers might have, the same can be said for only replacing the fronts of your cabinets. On the other hand, refinishing your cabinets will make them look and feel brand new. Through sanding, painting/staining, and sealing, your cabinets are protected and fresh, all while having the opportunity to choose any color or stain you want. Include some new hardware for your drawers and doors along with a fresh coat of paint to the walls and you have a brand-new kitchen or bathroom!
Every project is unique, with its own needs, sizes, time requirements, and so on, so there are always different options for whatever you seek and different methods to achieving your desired space!

Hi, I'm Rob Yarbro, founder of Western View Painting.
You probably won’t see me holding a paintbrush at your property, but sometimes it’s helpful to meet the person who runs the company you’re hiring to hear what they’re all about.
I’ve found that almost everyone’s had a bad experience with a contractor. At Western View, we wanted to build a company of men and women that could shake our clients’ hands, look them in the eye, and stand by their work. So we’ve built every step of our process around that vision…to give you an elevated painting experience from start to finish.
We’re grateful for the chance to work with you.
Before we're done, we'll walk the entire project with you. We're only finished when you're 100% happy with our work.
Contractors that don't communicate are the worst. Not us...when you reach out, we get back to you quickly! Whether that's via phone call, email, text, or a form on our site.
Notice a spot or two your painter missed? It happens. But most painters will never come back for little touch-ups. We do.
Every painting project comes with our 4-year limited warranty. If any issues arise because of our products or workmanship, we'll make it right.
We hire great people and treat them well. So you can trust that they'll treat your property with respect. We think you'll notice the difference.
We only use high-quality, eco-friendly paints that will stand the test of time and be safe for your family or place of work.
